Ojas and Diet

Food is medicine according to Ayurveda. If you take harmful consumables, you shouldn’t expect to get well. Your challenge is to find good healthy prana-rich food, look after your Agni, and it will lead to a healthy buildup of Ojas. 

When trying to follow the right diet, choose fresh, sweet, and juicy foods, so make sure the food is fresh and organic. Finally, try to ensure it is appropriate for your Dosha. Examples of foods that can build your Ojas include avocados, nuts, tofu, and sweet potatoes.

Practices to Build Ojas 

The simplest way to build your Ojas is through self-massage (Abhyanga). You should try as much as possible to incorporate it into your daily routine. It is also the most effective way of incorporating Ayurveda Ojas. It calms your nerves, nourishes your cell tissues, promotes a sense of well-being and comfort, and ensures a healthy lymphatic system.

Increasing positivity in your life will increase energy and, in turn, your Ojas. Even though Ojas gives you the strength to fight negativity, it can’t hurt to avoid negativity, embracing positive people who encourage you, or being in surroundings that calm you.

Engaging in gentle or aerobic activities like jogging and walking or gentle yoga sessions will do your Ojas a world of good. Yoga reduces constriction and stress and promotes energy flow, the perfect recipe for increasing Ojas.

Ojas encourages adopting a holistic approach to wellness. It’s not just a question of building Ojas; you have to stop wasting whatever you have. Otherwise, it will feel like trying to fill water into a bucket that is full of holes! The practice of maintaining what you have is pratyahara.

Connect with Your Ojas

A simple exercise can help you feel the strength of your Ojas. It involves:

  1. Finding an isolated spot, getting yourself into a comfortable position, and closing your eyes.
  2. Relaxing and taking in deep breaths and allowing it to smooth out.
  3. Taking your mind away from your aches, emotions, and thoughts and sending it down to your belly. Hold it there until you feel a funny sensation and then send that sensation to your heart.
  4. At that point, try to picture a memory of deep love, like a child’s birth, or when your parents said they were proud of you, and add this memory to the sensation.
  5. Allow this sensation to fill every cell in your body. Growing this feeling makes you wise and boosts your strength, allowing you to face change, disease, and heartache. Strong love builds Ojas.
